Parasite Eve Remake Reveal by Square Enix

Resident Evil. Shadow of the Colossus. Crash Bandicoot. Spyro the Dragon. Final Fantasy VII Remake. These are just a few games that have received the remake treatment with great success. While I understand that Parasite Eve isn’t quite on the same level as these games popularity-wise, in terms of quality, it very much deserves similar treatment. Now it’s my pie-in-the-sky dream, but one that I know many share. So for The Game Awards 2020, this is the trailer I want to be surprised to see.

Especially after the success of Resident Evil in recent years, a game like Parasite Eve would be perfect to return. The creature designs alone are well worth revisiting as some look straight from Bloodborne and seeing them updated would be nightmare fuel. Some of those cutscenes are etched into my brain (especially the beginning one) and putting today’s tech behind it would be glorious. Let’s go ahead and add in the remarkable gameplay and any updates people with bigger brains than I could implement. The game was an absolute blast to play, and I would love to see what people who grew up loving Parasite Eve might inject into the game as well as developers now.

There’s been a number of PlayStation games I’ve wanted to see remade. Final Fantasy VII (DONE!). Legend of Legaia. The Legend of Dragoon. So many more. However, Parasite Eve is right up there at the top of the list as well. In fact, I rank it higher than any Resident Evil game, as blasphemous as that is to some. I think Square Enix should absolutely take a chance on bringing back one of the most popular PlayStation games from back in the day. Not only would a new generation finally get to see how great the game is (or ideally – would be) but the nostalgia of gamers who loved the original would come flocking back as well.
