Time for the MultiVersus Roster Showdown Wrap-Up! After 21 weeks of Friday MultiVersus polls and articles, it’s time to put the ole’ girl out to pasture. Honestly…it’s a significant relief.

When I first started this showdown, it was to try and do something along the lines of our PlayStation All Stars version we did a few years back. Let’s call it what it was though…a blatant rip-off. But it was a fun thing to do and it involved input from anyone interested in participating. So why not do something similar?

The MultiVersus Roster Showdown was never meant as a “These are 100% who I want in the game” set of matches. Why else would I omit obvious choices like Dexter from Dexter’s Laboratory, Babs and Buster Bunny, and way more? It was to really dig down deep and showcase just how varied the Warner Brothers portfolio is that MultiVersus could pull from. There were so many more matches I thought about doing too. Carlton Banks vs Steve Urkel was one. Unikitty vs HIM was another. I wanted to get weird, though some matches I did feel were legitimate big wants.

As the weeks went on though, I started to feel the burnout. I had hoped I could bring more people into the fold, but that didn’t work well. Poor planning on my part as I was eager to get these done before the MultiVersus love faded (and I still probably waited too long there…). At the very least, I would hope Player First Games may have seen it and…I dunno….be inspired to shoot for the stars a bit I guess? Instead, I toiled away week after week, almost begrudgingly, just to finish doing what I set out to do. And as I type this, I’m not really sure if it was worth the time and effort.

The roster for MultiVersus at the moment is fine. I still think it’s smaller than a game of its ilk should be in 2023 and there are other problems it suffers from. That’s partly where the Final Boss and Stages articles come from as a campaign is something I would love to see and the stage selection is embarrassingly poor right now.

When this all started going down, I was high on MultiVersus. By the end though – I was sick of it. Part of it is because I think it could rival Smash Bros. At least it could on the content front, and I think these past 21 weeks really solidified that. MultiVersus has so much to pull from. So hopping back in and seeing very little having changed since it dropped in July is so incredibly disappointing. It felt like I was putting more thought into the game than the developers and publishers. Maybe that’s a selfish thought, but it’s my personal feelings.

So with all of that off my chest, I present to you all an updated roster based on the past 18 matchups and the current roster in the game.
