It is the job of these trailers to set the stage if you will or give you an idea of what the final product will look like. Another job of the trailer is to sell people on the game. Examples include the first season of Telltale Games&#8217; The Walking Dead, the Gears of War franchise, and virtually every game trailer that Blur studios had a hand in making. Recent events like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2020\/12\/10\/22166109\/the-game-awards-2020-announcements-trailers-fortnite-smash-bros-among-us-mass-effect\">The Game Awards<\/a>, or publisher showcases does the job as well. So without further adieu, here are our selections of the trailers for games that have blown us away. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Allan Muir &#8211; EiC\/Star Wars Stan\/Absent Minded Professor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Halo 3<\/em><\/strong> (E3 2006)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/T9Ezd2FqxAU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><figcaption><strong><em>Credit: Microsoft<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the time I finished <em>Halo 2<\/em> and <em>Halo 1<\/em> (yes, in that order as well), I would take my Xbox 360 from my den to my sister&#8217;s room as she had an ethernet cable in there. This meant an internet connection that I had easy access to. An upside to this was that I would be able to download things such as game demos, videos, and more. When my friends would come around to utilize said internet connection we&#8217;d play <em>Halo 2 <\/em>multiplayer and boy was that a hoot and a half. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, at school, we&#8217;d talk about the fact that <em>Halo 3<\/em> was on the way and closer to being a tangible thing we could all play. I even remember the trailer I had downloaded off Limewire that despite being clearly fake I thought was going to be a thing. It wasn&#8217;t until early 2007 when I had finally gotten what I wanted to see. The E3 teaser trailer for <em>Halo 3<\/em> was aptly titled &#8220;Finish The Fight&#8221;. What I saw made both Halo games look like they were not even close to competing for my time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The trailer opened with the signature orchestral Halo-esque music on a desert locale with a voice saying &#8220;I have defied gods and demons, I am your shield, I am your soul.&#8221; This was followed by the music swelling as multiple covenant ships converging on what appeared to be a forerunner device and the voice heard earlier in the trailer who is revealed to be Cortana saying &#8220;This is the way the world ends&#8221;. I was floored by this and simply put my excitement for Halo 3 only increased as more and more trailers would come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"> Josh Miller &#8211; The Family Man<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Final Fantasy VII Remake<\/strong><\/em> (E3 2015)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2Lu5DWPmINc?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><figcaption><strong><em>Credit: PushSquare<\/em><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For years, <em>Final Fantasy VII<\/em> fans have wanted one thing. A remake. We wanted one of our favorite games of all time to no longer have the ugly aesthetic that aged poorly along with the inconsistent character models. We were teased with the tech demo for the PlayStation 3. More frustratingly, we were let down by the 2014 PlayStation Experience trolling of the PC port. That changed with the 2015 Sony E3 Press Conference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can sense it in the air as Adam Boyes starts referencing <em>Final Fantasy VII<\/em> and the &#8220;treat&#8221; PlayStation has for everyone. As the ominous voiceover booms over scenes of what is clearly Midgar, and the music starts tinkling in slowly, I could feel my heart start racing. These madmen were finally doing it. This wasn&#8217;t a tease, right? These beautiful scenes that look like a current-gen game weren&#8217;t going to be a rug pulled from under us. We see a crowd shot and as footsteps get louder, we see a man with a Gatling gun for an arm step out from the foreground followed by a man with an obnoxiously large sword. At last, the promise has been made. <em>Final Fantasy VII REMAKE<\/em>. When the word remake appears on the screen, the crowd erupts. Years of pent up dreams and frustrations can finally be expelled.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I have no way of properly detailing the feeling I had that day. No other game trailer pushed me emotionally as that one did in a personal way. The easiest way for me to describe how I felt and everyone else who loves that game felt is to post the reaction video below. You can see the full spectrum of emotions that they go through. Some have said it doesn&#8217;t feel genuine and that it&#8217;s overblown because they are on video. I know better. Because I sat home alone and had the exact same reactions. I say this because I truly believe I&#8217;ve talked about this trailer before? I&#8217;ve certainly talked about <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> before, that&#8217;s a given. But the most memorable <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> trailer for me was the UK Launch Trailer for <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed III<\/em>. Now, you may ask how I&#8217;ve even <em>seen <\/em>this trailer, considering I live in North America. Well, for some time I was subscribed to Ubisoft&#8217;s YouTube channel and saw all of the tasty trailers coming down the pipeline. Certainly helped raise the hype of a young lad like myself. It was <em>here <\/em>that I stumbled upon the most incredible video game trailer I had ever laid eyes on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By now, everyone knows the song &#8220;Radioactive&#8221; by Imagine Dragons. Most of us probably hear it in our nightmares, but for me, I never grew tired of its constant radio plays. I&#8217;m not kidding when I say constant, either. This song <em>still <\/em>gets air time, and it&#8217;s been around for over <em>eight years<\/em>. Personally, though, this song fills me to the brim with nostalgia, as this song was set to the backdrop of the American Revolution in the UK Launch Trailer for <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed III<\/em>, and from then on, my heart connected the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pAb-Joqhrz8?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><figcaption><em><strong>Credit: Ubisoft<\/strong><\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I like to say I discovered &#8220;Radioactive,&#8221; and I&#8217;m damn happy I did. Not only did the song blow me away, but the action and the glimpses of <em>AC3<\/em>&#8216;s story kept me hanging on with bated breath. I was just stunned by the colors and the animations, which looked <em>so <\/em>different than previous <em>Assassin&#8217;s Creed<\/em> games. My body was not prepared for this game, and when it was finally released, it changed my whole world. I&#8217;ll never forget the feelings this trailer instilled within me, and whenever I hear Imagine Dragons&#8217; infamous anthem, I&#8217;ll metaphorically pour one out for this awesome trailer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--nextpage-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There you have it, the video game trailers that hyped us up.
