Crossovers are more prevalent in todays society than in times past. From Freddy vs Jason on the big screen, to the craziness of comic book crossovers, I’ve wondered what good video game crossovers would look like. All depending on one certification: being dumb as hell.
While Super Smash Bros. is a good example of what we are going to try and flesh out, it could be a lot more wacky and cartoonish. So we here at VGU will be pitching the game crossovers we’d like to see.
Graydon Webb – Habitual Creed Raider
Assassin’s Creed: The Uncharted Tomb Raider

Okay, you want a wild crossover? I’ll give you one. So we all know Nathan Drake, right? He’s a charming treasure hunter who’ll stop at nothing to solve a good mystery. Now how about Lara Croft? Well, she’s a charming treasure hunter who’ll stop at nothing to solve a good mystery. Then, I suppose, there’s Ezio Auditore, a charming treasure hunter who’ll… wait, do you hear something?
Yes, I am suggesting that we take these three fearless rogues and jumble them all together into the biggest third person adventure game you’ve ever laid eyes on. But how would it work? Perhaps Drake and Croft meet each other at some gathering of treasure hunters, like a convention of sorts. Maybe there, they meet Sean Hastings, too, and he shows them the Animus technology. Then, they’ll follow the path of Ezio Auditore (because according to modern Assassin’s Creed lore, Sean would be able to tap into those memories with current technology), and together solve some long forgotten mystery in a far-off place.
I hate that I’m just giving away some brilliant idea to anyone listening, but to me, this seems like a no-brainer. Nathan Drake and Lara Croft have been compared to each other for years, and Ezio is one of the most popular characters in gaming alongside them. All of their games play pretty similarly and fit into the same genre, more or less. The only thing holding this whole thing back is the fact that Drake is a PlayStation exclusive and the others are third party (though Xbox likes to pretend they own Tomb Raider, somehow). All in all, I think this would be a pretty sweet crossover, no matter how ridiculous it may sound and how hard it would be to get off the ground.
Allan Muir – The Perfect Strangers Theme Is Stuck In My Head
Matt Hazard v Duke Nukem: A Reprise for Mediocrity

When it comes to Duke Nukem and Matt Hazard, you have a sense that the former was influenced by the latter in a way that is more satirical. My pitch for this what-if crossover is a simple one, taking the piss out of arguments akin to “Superman vs Goku” but written with a much more depressing amount of satire. Considering the meta-elements of the first Matt Hazard game and background of the character he would be a good plot device to make the whole concept work.
The plot would be a light retread as Eat Lead with Matt Hazard being transported back into the world of video games but SHOCKER! Not his game but instead Duke Nukem 3D and parts of Duke Nukem Forever being demade. Specifically, the parts that make no sense being in the game such as the shrinkified Duke, the “guess he won’t be in the sequel” scene, etc.
This is not something I’d want to see in this hypothetical game because it would be an interesting plot thread to see in a completely different game but throw in a sub-plot where Duke is re-thinking his life and place in the world he inhabits? You would have my money… maybe.
