We’re halfway through the G4 nostalgia train folks.

Before G4’s launch back in the late 1990s to 2000, there was a show called “Game Time!” that was hosted by future G4 co-founder Scot Rubin. This would evolve into G4tv.com

One of the launch shows of G4, G4tv.com was Scot Rubin, Laura Foy, and Tina Wood and was the closest thing I ever saw to a gaming radio show. Each episode had a specific topic along with viewer call-in questions that the hosts would then go in-depth about. There was a fantastic segment per episode titled “no budget gamer” in which the hosts would find a free web game that could hold you over until your next paycheck.

There were also, of course, the interviews with people from game companies. Some of them ranged from Josh Resnick to Cliff Bleszinski. The special connection between the people on the message boards and the hosts was evident as when there would be a guest on, people who were watching and on the G4 boards could ask the guests questions. This was one of the things that in “my” opinion, put G4 ahead of its time. Even during G4 Rewind in the summer of 2008 people in that particular message board could give their opinions on various things on whatever classic show was airing.

G4tv.com would air its final episode in December of 2005 as a result of the line-wide format change and nearly a decade and a half later, I am glad we as a people had this show.
