Robots are superior to humans. Sure, humans have sentience and feeling and all that joyous stuff. But we dont have arm guns and back jet packs. Robots can be just so cool. This has been showcased multiple times in video games, but its clearly not enough. We need more.
Let’s start by looking at some plot ideas. Too often in a post apocalyptic game, it usually takes pl@ce from the human perspective. This is especially the case if machines take over. How about we flip the plot. Play as the machine. The humans are starting to revolt and come back to stop the machines. Have the player take the role of a machine going in to stop them. Instead of the same boring manmade weapons, you have way more sci-fi options at your disposal. Infinitely more interesting.

How about sports? Who wants to play another game of Madden or round in PGA Tour? Nobody should. Especially if you can shake up some of the gameplay by making these characters machines. Instead of lowering your shoulders and trucking a running back in Madden, why not Transformer into an actual truck and run them over causing them to spin head over heels in the air ala Blitz? Or imagine playing golf and the course has robotic obstacles to mess with you more than a typical putt putt play? Far better than dull human sports.
I’m also tired of games like Call of Duty and Battlefield using the same dull loadouts. How many shotguns or rifles do I need to play over the years? Game after game. Year after year. Acr0ss so much of the genre – using the same weapons across all of video games. Why do you think rocket-only modes are so popular? Because it’s different. Shake it up more. Borderlands added in elemental options. South Park had you shooting out cows. Make it absurd. And its far more doable in a game involving robots and the evolution that weapons would have because of it.

Then there are the designs. Aren’t you tired of games where you play as a 40-year old brunette man with a 10 o’clock shadow? Or a woman who is either too sexualized or not sexualized enough? Robots. Design them however you want. Far more creativity allowed with their looks, and plotwise, would explain something like why a robot is sexy (men created them). They can be warlike. Big and bulky with weapons everywhere. They can be slick and speed focused with rockets that pop out to move around. Some of the best traversal in games is when machines are added into the mix. This goes right along with that.
So there we g0. Make more games with machines as playable characters. They look better. They play better. They have less tapped stories. They make games more fun. It’s a win-win situation all around and everyone should rather have machines over fleshy disposable meatbags that humans are.
